Aztec House operates an open door policy, and anyone can drop in for a chat and a cup of tea, or for advice about a specific problem. Shower facilities, meals and laundry are all available to non-residents who are in need.
Purpose
To provide support to non-Shelter residents who are homeless, or otherwise socially excluded.
Services
Advice, advocacy, meals, laundry & support in accessing other services (benefits, health, drug and alcohol, counselling, mental health, community bank).
Access
Open.
Many individuals who do not stay with Shelter, call into Aztec House for advice and support or just for some company and a chat. Some of these people are ex-clients who pop in for a bit of company. Others have never been homeless and want advice about their accommodation or perhaps their benefits.
Rough sleepers may use Aztec House to safely store their bedding and belongings, to shower, launder their clothes and have a meal. They can use the phone to sort out appointments and use our address as a safe postal address. A private room is available for rough sleepers to meet health professional
Whatever the reason, visitors are welcome to drop in to Aztec House anytime between 9-00am and 9-00pm.
Visitors of other Trust projects are also welcome by arrangement.
As at the end of 2017, the day facilities service was used by 126 individuals.
