Homelessness and Coronavirus - Not a good combination!
12th December 2019
It is widely accepted that homeless people suffer from poorer health status and health outcomes than the general population, so it will not come as a great surprise to anybody that the threat posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) is a matter of huge concern to staff at The Shelter Trust.
Plans are being advanced to safeguard the health of Shelter Trust staff and existing homeless service users in the event that the coronavirus reaches the Island. Additionally, the outreach teams are working hard to locate any rough sleepers. However, it is accepted that knowledge may be deficient, so if you are aware of locations where anyone is sleeping rough or hunkering down in a car park, garden shed, beach shelter or vehicle etc. please contact the JERSEY HOMELESS OUTREACH GROUP or SHELTER - both on 730235 and the team will make contact with them and encourage them into a safe location where their health can be monitored and they can be supported if they are taken ill.
THANK YOU for your support. Please take care of yourselves and all who are close to you.
