Help Us Hit Our 15,000 Tin Record!

The Shelter Trust is calling on the entire Jersey community to support our 15th Annual Tinathon on Friday, October 4th, from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm at West's Centre, St. Helier. This year, the Trust aims to collect a record-breaking 15,000 tins to support those in need across the island.

Richard Robins, who leads the Tinathon organising team, highlights the urgency of the event: “Over 100,000 meals were served by the Shelter Trust in 2023 – at least 270 meals each day, costing more than £80,000. We need the community's help more than ever to meet the growing demand for our services.”

How You Can Get Involved

  • Households: Drop off tins or make a cash/card donation at West’s Centre on the day of the event between 8:00 am and 2:30 pm. If you can’t attend in person, donate an e-tin online for just £1 per tin by visiting JustGiving.
  • In-Store: Leave your donations in collection tubs at any of these locations:
    • All Waitrose stores
    • All Alliance stores
    • Co-Op Grand Marché St. Helier (throughout October)
    • Communicare St. Brelade
    • The National Trust office at The Elms
    • Good Companions Club in St. Clements
    • Many churches throughout the Island
  • Schools: Encourage your children to take tins to participating schools. Twenty Island schools are joining the effort to support the Tinathon.
  • Businesses: Organise a tin collection in your workplace. For large donations of 50+ tins, collection can be arranged in the three days leading up to the event. Alternatively, bring them down to West’s Centre on the day.

The Shelter Trust is grateful to all supporting organisations and particularly to event sponsors, LGT Wealth Management, who have covered all financial costs of the event. Everyone is welcome on the day to enjoy the great atmosphere, with entertainment provided by local groups and performers throughout the event.

Let’s come together to make a difference. Every tin counts in helping us reach—and hopefully exceed—our goal of 15,000 tins. With your support, we can continue providing much-needed help to those who need it most.

Come down, bring your tins, and be part of our record-breaking effort to support those in need in our community.
